This weekend, the swimmers of Section 1 take to the pool at the Webster Aquatic Center in the NYSPHSAA and Federation championships.

Friday, Nov. 22

At Friday's NYSPHSAA and Federation championships, the divers took center stage competing all 11 dives at the Webster Aquatic Center.

Section 1 had one representative at the meet in current Section 1 champion Iris Wang of Scarsdale. The junior scored 177.40 points.

According to Scarsdale coach Barney Foltman, Wang didn't advance out of the first five rounds.

But the coach has a positive thought on how Wang did.

"It was a wonderful experience for her," Foltman said. "She already has her eyes on a top 20 finish next year."

Section 1 swimmers off to good start: Earlier in the day, the swimmers of the Section 1 took the pool for step one of the championships, the individual and relay trials.

The swimmers had a really good Friday night in the water.
