A four-year-old Canadian boy is still hospitalized one month after he was mauled by a dog in his neighborhood.
Declan MacDonell, 4, suffered serious injuries in the Oct. 8 attack, according to the Northumberland News.
The boy was rushed to Northumberland Hills Hospital and later transported to SickKids hospital in Toronto for nine hours of emergency surgery, the Northumberland News reported.
"Declan continues to be a brave little fighter flanked by his incredible parents," states a GoFundMe page set up to help his parents with hospital-related expenses.
"We all continue to be so grateful for your support, it continues to make an incredibly positive impact," the post read. "We are all still processing, with shock and horror, the gravity and weight of this all."

So far, the fundraiser has raised more than $37,000 Canadian dollars.
According to the post, Declan started junior kindergarten in September "and has had a promising start to the school year."
The boy "loves dinosaurs and when he grows up he wants to be a Paleontologist," the post read.
A Cobourg Police Service spokesperson tells PEOPLE that no charges "have been laid as a result of the police investigation."
