Vikings legend Adrian Peterson wished a different NFL team drafted him

Adrian Peterson was drafted No. 7 overall by the Minnesota Vikings in 2007.

At the time, the future legend wished a different team got him.

Peterson was eying the No. 10 overall selection. That was the Houston Texans' spot.

And given that AP was a native of Palestine, Texas, joining the Texans was appealing.

"I honestly wanted to, during that time, slip to number 10, because I would've been able to go back home in Texas," Peterson recently shared on the Stories Untold podcast.

The Texans wound up with defensive tackle Amobi Okoye.

The Vikings got one of the greatest players in franchise history.

He played 10 years for Minnesota, finishing with 11,747 yards (4.9 ypc) and 97 touchdowns.

Peterson's NFL career trickled out from there with stops in New Orleans, Arizona, Washington, Detroit, Tennessee and Seattle.

But those Minnesota years, in the purple and gold No. 28, are what everyone remembers most of Peterson.

Things certainly worked out just fine for AP in Minnesota.
