'Legally Brunette' postponed

Editor's note: Lucky Penny Productions announced Saturday that its production of "Legally Brunette" was postponed "due to circumstances beyond our control." The company said all tickets would be refunded and they hope to reschedule the show in the future.

The production of "Legally Blonde: The Musical" will open Sept. 13th as scheduled.

NAPA -- Lucky Penny Productions will celebrate the beginning of their new season with a special one-woman show, "Legally Brunette: The Search for Myself," written and performed by Natalie Lander.

Performances are Sept. 6-8.

"Legally Brunette" is a one-woman musical based on the real-life experiences and actual journal entries from Lander's time on the MTV reality show "Legally Blonde: The Search for Elle Woods" in 2008.

The show allowed audiences to peek behind the curtain of the series, as Lander tells her story through monologues and "Legally Blonde" songs with a twist.

The show premiered at 54 Below inside Studio 54 in New York in 2022, and was then featured at the Garry Marshall Theatre in Burbank in 2023.

Lander is the daughter of the late David Lander, who appeared in many films and TV shows but most notably played Squiggy on "Laverne & Shirley."

She is known for her roles in "The Middle," "13 Reasons Why" and "9-1-1: Lone Star" among many roles in television and film, and has a long resume of voice work as well.

"I met Natalie when we were both theatre students in college," Lucky Penny Artistic Director Taylor Bartolucci," said in a press release, "and we have been good friends ever since.

"When I saw her show last summer in Burbank I knew we had to bring it to Napa as a companion to our production of 'Legally Blonde: The Musical,' which is opening our season beginning September 13th.

"Natalie's show is hilarious and touching, and it's a must-see for all Elle Woods fans and aspiring performers."

Tickets for the fundraising presentation of "Legally Brunette: The Search for Myself" are on sale along with tickets for the three-weekend run of "Legally Blonde."

Tickets for the remainder of the season are on sale now as well.

Following "Legally Blonde" is the suspenseful comedy "Women in Jeopardy," and for the holiday season the family friendly musical "Oliver!" based on Dickens' "Oliver Twist."

The season continues in 2025 with "Love Letters," "Reefer Madness," "Other Desert Cities" and the 2025 version of the Lucky Penny original musical "The Real Housewives of Napa Valley."

Season ticket packages that include all seven shows are now available, and can be purchased at www.luckypennynapa.com.
