Potential Vikings draft target won't work out at NFL Scouting Combine

The Minnesota Vikings want more consistency from their running game in 2025. That could mean using a high draft pick on a running back.

Ashton Jeanty is widely regarded as the top prospect in this year's draft. However, the Vikings won't be able to see him work out this week at the NFL Scouting Combine.

According to Jeanty's agent Henry Organ, the Boise State runner won't participate in any on-field workouts this week. Instead, he will only participate in team interviews and medical evaluations.

NFL teams will have to wait for Boise State's Pro Day to see Jeanty do any on-field workouts. This will give him a more controlled environment, as he will participate with teammates and perform according to a schedule set up by the school.

Ryan Fowler of The Draft Network reported Tuesday that the Vikings have a formal meeting scheduled with Jeanty. He may not be available when Minnesota is on the clock at pick No. 24, but they could look to trade up for him if they address other needs in free agency.

Jeanty also doesn't stand to gain much in combine workouts. As he's already the top running back available, he can't substantially improve his draft stock. But a poor showing or injury could raise questions that drop him down draft boards.
