Zac Darrow and his wife, Jessie, have been coaching the Hamilton varsity softball squad together for a handful of years.
The duo has had its fair share of moments with the Emerald Knights. One of those moments came on Friday.
Zac, the head coach, secured his 100th victory alongside Jessie, the assistant coach, in Hamilton's 3-0 triumph over Oriskany.
Zac credits Jessie, who played catcher in high school, as Hamilton's pitching guru.
"It's been a great ride," Zac Darrow said. "To have all 100 wins with my wife by my side, it's pretty great when your significant other is able to share those moments in the dugout with you."
Zac and Jessie are part of a family where softball, with some baseball mixed in, never turns off throughout the year.
The duo's son Liam is on Hamilton's modified baseball team, while their other son Jamie plays Little League.
"The balance is tough, but it's great," Zac added. "There are times when we have three different games on the same day, but we do well with it. That's what happens come springtime."
Thursday's contest saw sophomore pitcher Ellie Freeth toss another gem for the Emerald Knights. She went the distance in the circle, giving up three hits and three walks with nine strikeouts.
"Ellie continues to pitch well," Zac Darrow said. "The defense has been playing well behind her."
Rhiannon Murray had two singles and scored for Hamilton. Alexis LaFrance singled and scored, while Rihana Dye drove in a run.
"We've been playing well. We're getting better each game," Darrow said.
Bryana Manella singled, walked and was hit by a pitch for the Skyhawks. Kaelyn Mayo walked and stole a base.
Also for Oriskany, Brylie VanVechten tossed a complete game and gave up three unearned runs and six hits with a strikeout.
Hamilton (11-2) hosts Herkimer and New York Mills on Monday. Oriskany (4-7) takes on Westmoreland at 9 a.m. Saturday.
