Saudi Arabia Observes World Osteoporosis Day - أردو بوینت

Jeddah, October ( وكالة الأنباء السعودية ۔ ‎‎‎ 20 اكتوبر 2025ء) Osteoporosis affects 30% of women and 10% of men over the age of 50, leading to a decline in bone density and strength, making bones more vulnerable to fractures.

Head of the Orthopedic Department and consultant at Al Salama Hospital Dr. Mohammed Alotaibi emphasized the importance of early screening, especially for at-risk groups, and recommended regular bone density testing for individuals over 50.

He also underscored the need for daily sunlight exposure to promote vitamin D production, along with a balanced diet rich in calcium and vitamin D. He added that avoiding smoking and adopting healthy lifestyle habits are crucial steps to prevent osteoporosis and maintain strong bones throughout life.

World Osteoporosis Day serves not only as an opportunity to educate individuals on preventing osteoporosis, but also as a call to action for health authorities to implement effective prevention and treatment policies. The occasion is marked by media campaigns, social media outreach, and the distribution of brochures and booklets that offer guidance on osteoporosis prevention and bone health.
