(KRON) - The San Mateo Police Department arrested an Oakland man after knocking on a San Mateo resident's door for "no legitimate reason," the department announced on Sunday.
An owner of a residence on Sky Court contacted San Mateo PD and informed police officers that a masked man with a hard hat knocking on the front door, police said.
Responding officers said the suspect was hiding when they located him. Police discovered the man was an Oakland resident who had "no legitimate reason for being in San Mateo." SMPD said the suspect could not provide a reason for being in the city.
Officers searched the individual and found pepper spray. The suspect is a felon, which disallows him from having weapons.
Police said the suspect was arrested for being a convicted felon in possession of pepper spray.
