Nancy Poised to Take Celtic Job as Rossi, Rangers and Denmark Make Headlines - The Global Herald

Celtic are reportedly close to appointing Columbus Crew boss Wilfried Nancy as their next manager after intensive discussions over the weekend. Talks are believed to be progressing with the aim of concluding terms ahead of the club's annual meeting on Friday.

If Nancy is confirmed, one of his early priorities may be to strengthen the forward line. Observers expect movement in the transfer market soon after any official announcement.

Uruguayan striker Diego Rossi, the current top scorer for the Columbus Crew, has signalled an interest in a return to Europe at the end of this Major League Soccer season. That has fuelled speculation he could be Nancy's first signing should the coach move to Celtic.

Across Glasgow, there is believed to be resistance to selling midfielder Nicolas Raskin in January. Tottenham Hotspur are understood to be among the clubs scouting the 24-year-old Belgian, but Rangers head coach Danny Rohl is reportedly reluctant to part with him mid-season.

Former Ibrox winger David Templeton has suggested Rangers should open talks to extend captain James Tavernier's stay beyond the end of his current deal, which expires at the season's close.

Denmark's preparations for the crucial World Cup qualifying match in Glasgow have been affected by a sickness bug sweeping their camp. The illness has disrupted training and raised questions about squad readiness.

Following a 2-2 home draw with Belarus, forward Gustav Isaksen described the result as a "disaster" and suggested the team were not worthy of World Cup qualification at this stage.

At Raith Rovers, interim boss Paul Hanlon has insisted it is premature for him to put himself forward for the job on a permanent basis, despite taking temporary charge of the first team.

These developments underline a busy period for Scottish clubs, blending managerial change, transfer speculation and international implications as the season presses on.
