Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have called it quits -- again.
Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck in Los Angeles County Superior Court, listing April 26, 2024 as their date of separation, TMZ reported. They also reported Lopez and Affleck had no prenuptial agreement; if that is true, whatever they both earned in the past two years is joint property.
Today is a significant day for Lopez to file for divorce -- it marks the two-year anniversary of their lavish Georgia wedding ceremony after the two eloped in Las Vegas in July 2022. Lopez and Affleck famously began dating again in 2021, rekindling their romance after breaking up in 2004. It was Lopez's fourth marriage and Affleck's second.
When they got back together, Lopez told People that the growth they've been through was the key to making their new relationship work. "We're older now, we're smarter, we have more experience, we're at different places in our lives, we have kids now, and we have to be very conscious of those things," she said at the time."It's a beautiful outcome that this has happened in this way at this time in our lives where we can really appreciate and celebrate each other and respect each other. We always did, but we have even more of an appreciation because we know that life can take you in different directions."
Affleck proposed to Lopez in 2022 with a rare green diamond (in 2003, he proposed with a radiant-cut pink Harry Winston diamond). After their wedding, Lopez said she was formally changing her name to Jennifer Affleck, but it's unclear if she ever did.
Their relationship had been publicly on the rocks in recent months, with many speculating that Bennifer had split for some time now. Though they were pictured together the spring, Lopez spent her 55th birthday alone, and Affleck purchased a new home in Los Angeles last month. TMZ reported "they have been trying to hash out a settlement for months, and our sources say those talks are continuing, but they have become increasingly acrimonious... to the point, at times, they're not even speaking to each other."
Neither Lopez or Affleck has officially commented on the news yet, but we'll update this story if they do.
