Prattville Baptist Hospital named Patient Safety Excellence Award winner

PRATTVILLE, Ala. (WSFA) - Prattville Baptist Hospital is one of only two hospitals in the state of Alabama to be recognized by Healthgrades as a Patient Safety Excellence Award winner.

Healthgrades is an online resource to find information on hospitals or doctors. It evaluated 4,500 hospital nationwide to determine the top performing facilities for patient safety. Prattville Baptist CEO Eric Morgan says the award gives validation for those who work at the hospital.

"Our team puts a lot of time in every day to deliver high quality care and to have an external organization recognize the hard work that they put in is tremendous. It's tremendous for our team," said Morgan.

Healthgrades studied data from 2020 through 2022 to determine the award recipients. Healthgrades' analysis revealed that patients treated in hospitals receiving the 2024 Patient Safety Excellence Award have a significantly lower chance of experiencing one of the four leading safety indicators that patients treated at non-recipient hospitals do:

Prattville Mayor Bill Gillespie says he is not surprised by the recognition.

"You know, being a lifelong member of Prattville and seeing the evolution of Prattville Baptist here, I already knew what was reported here," said Gillespie.

The other hospital in Alabama to receive the Patient Safety Excellence Award was Jack Hughston Memorial in Phenix City.
