Arkansas losing former Freshman All-SEC selection to transfer portal

Arkansas is losing defensive back Jaylon Braxton to the transfer portal as multiple players across college football look for a change of scenery with the regular season in the books.

The All-SEC Freshman selection in 2023 has still yet to fully tap his potential, taking the field in just two games this season after he suffered a knee injury on Sept. 7 in the 39-31 overtime loss to the Oklahoma State Cowboys. He took to X to thank the Razorbacks for his time there.

Wherever he ends up next, Braxton will have the chance to build upon what he's already established with a chance to rise to the top of the depth chart quickly. He gave a strong glimpse of the heights he could reach in a strong freshman year in which he tallied 20 combined tackles, 8 passes defended, 1 interception and 1 forced fumble returned for a touchdown.

Braxton recorded 6 starts that year, seeing action in a total of 9 games. The loss of Braxton marks just one of many players expected to be lost to the portal when it officially opens up, with tight end Luke Hasz, wide receiver Isaiah Sategna, offensive linemen Joshua Braun and Patrick Kutas all to enter, in addition to defensive lineman Nico Davillier on the other side of the ball.
