Joe Thuney explains why he wants to be part of this Bears team

The Chicago Bears are looking to change their culture in the locker room and on the field, and they have put in plenty of offseason moves to begin that change. One of the biggest moves included a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs for All-Pro offensive lineman Joe Thuney, who not only will help the new-look offensive line but will serve as a leader in the locker room.

The Bears recently inked Thuney to a two-year contract extension that keeps the veteran guard in Chicago through the 2027 season, which helps keep stability along the offensive line with guard Jonah Jackson and center Drew Dalman also in place for the next three years.

After a 2024 season filled with disappointment, embarrassment, and some roster turnover, Thuney believes this new-look Bears team will establish a winning culture this year.

"It's been great," Thuney said. "Everyone seems to be really intent, intense and focused. It's something I want to be a part of. Guys working for each other and everyone's trying to improve bit-by-bit. It's a process. It's early, but I think guys like working here. It's been great."

Having protected both Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes during his highly-respected career, Thuney knows what it takes to win at the highest level and is trying to bring that to Chicago. The Bears have not won a Super Bowl since 1985, but with veteran and talented leaders like Thuney, they could start to turn the corner and begin their championship path.
