More than 30 left homeless after Ocean Hill fire

OCEAN HILL -- THE 31 RESIDENTS of a row of four Ocean Hill buildings destroyed in a Monday night fire escaped with their lives, but are now without homes, including nine children, reports Fox News. Six firefighters were also injured in the effort to extinguish the flames, which reportedly lasted for three hours and caused extensive water damage to nearby homes. Resident Michael King, 71, told Fox that he and his wife, 82, were forced to flee from the fire by jumping out of a second story window. Other residents described feeling shock and sorrow over the loss of their homes and memories. News 12 reports that a 311 complaint had been previously lodged against the owner of the Dean St. building where the fire started over allegedly faulty electrical work, but the Department of Buildings later investigated and found no evidence of the claim.
