'Alien: Romulus' Score From Benjamin Wallfisch, Which Pays Homage to Jerry Goldsmith and James Horner, Due on Vinyl in November

The score for "Alien: Romulus" is coming to digital platforms, to be followed by a physical release in November.

Composed by Benjamin Wallfisch, the music for the Fede Álvarez film -- which takes place between the events of Ridley Scott's 1979 "Alien" and James Cameron's 1986 "Aliens" -- arrives digitally on August 16. Golden Globe and Grammy-nominated Wallfisch drew upon the well-known scores for those two films from Jerry Goldsmith and James Horner, as well as Marc Streitenfeld's music for Scott's 2012 prequel "Prometheus."

The digital release includes 20 cues. The vinyl edition, to be released by Mutant on November 15, features alternate artwork and six bonus tracks. Check out the vinyl cover art below:

After composing the scores for "Annabelle: Creation," "Blade Runner 2049" and "Twisters" just this year, Wallfisch has established a pedigree for absorbing themes from famous films series and lovingly reimagining them for new chapters. "My love for the original films made it a joy to contribute to this iconic franchise," says Wallfisch. "By immersing myself in the musical legacy of Horner and Goldsmith, the aim was to embody the tone of what came before while creating fresh elements through a fusion of electronics and traditional orchestral textures."

"The score is a reflection of the film's complex characters and the eerie, tension-filled atmosphere of deep space, blending new techniques with the timeless sound of the 'Alien' universe."

Compiled below is a sampler of three cues from Wallfisch's score:

Ahead of watching "Alien: Romulus" for the first time, it's probably best not to read too many of the track names, which are listed below the art for the digital release. Thankfully, fans of the franchise won't have to wait for long: "Alien: Romulus" opens nationwide Friday. August 16.
