Kyren Williams or Blake Corum? Fantasy start or sit advice for Rams RBs in Week 14

Kyren Williams or Blake Corum? Fantasy start or sit advice for Rams RBs in Week 14

The Los Angeles Rams have had a shake-up in their running backs room lately.

That shake-up has seen second-year back Blake Corum getting more work recently, although he still remains the RB2 behind veteran running back Kyren Williams.

Since Week 7, Corum has seen an uptick to 10.3 touches per game, which is nearly double what he averaged over the first six weeks.

Meanwhile, Williams' workload has dipped from 18.8 touches per contest through the first six weeks to 15.6 per game since Week 7.

ESPN's Dan Graziano recently touched on the change in workload distribution with the two backs and noted that the goal is to keep Williams fresh. He added that we shouldn't expect this current approach to change, either.

"I also asked the Rams about their running back usage, because I'm always looking out for my fantasy football readers. They've been rotating Williams and Corum drive-to-drive and will continue to do so. LaFleur told me he thinks they've been seeing the best version of Williams because he's fresher and not being asked to carry as much of the load, and the Rams have their sights set on January and February games and want everyone as fresh as possible," Graziano said.

Knowing that, here's some advice on what to do with the two Rams backs in Week 14.

While the dip in workload isn't ideal, Williams is still averaging a healthy amount of touches, but he went from being ranked as RB10 over the first six weeks to RB15 since Week 7.

We'd now consider Williams more of a high-end RB2 rather than the borderline RB1 he was earlier in the season, but he's still a good starting option.

Williams also draws a plus matchup in Week 14 against an Arizona Cardinals defense that is surrendering the seventh-most fantasy points per game to backs.

Williams remains locked into our lineups in Week 14.

Verdict: Start

Since his workload increase from Week 7 on, Corum only ranks as RB56 overall, which leaves him off the starting radar until further notice.

If you're starting Corum, you're depending on a touchdown for viable production, as he still isn't getting much work in the passing game and 10 or so touches just isn't enough to rely on for big yardage output.

Corum has tallied 58 rushing yards or less in each game since Week 7 but one. That showing came in Week 13, when he finished with 81 rushing yards.

Corum is someone who should be rostered, especially if you own Williams, but we just don't feel comfortable putting him into lineups this week.
