Closed Loop Partners and Collaborators Enhance Productivity

Closed Loop Partners' Composting Consortium, the Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI), and the US Composting Council (USCC) have formed a coalition of organizations focused on waste management. These entities have allocated financial grants to eight different projects across the United States with the objective of enhancing the country's capacity for processing organic waste.

The initiatives funded by Closed Loop Partners' Composting Consortium and its collaborators fall into three primary categories -- expanding public access to food scrap collection services, upgrading the physical infrastructure at composting facilities to handle a greater volume of material, including certified compostable packaging, and improving community education and outreach to encourage correct participation in composting programs.

This collaborative effort is presented as a strategic step towards building a more circular economy for organic materials, where waste is transformed into compost for agricultural or landscaping use, rather than being sent to landfills.
