Dr. Bernice Robinson-Bennett, has been named as chair, department of obstetrics & gynecology for Reading Hospital after serving as interim chair since April 2024.

Robinson-Bennett is responsible for the supervision and administration of the department of OB/GYN and the OB/GYN residency program. She will work with hospital and Tower Health leadership to achieve objectives for continued improvement, oversee the growth and expansion of services, and develop an expert team of physician and nurse leaders for the department. She will also serve as Tower Health's Physician Lead for the Women and Children Service Line, across Reading, Phoenixville, and Pottstown hospitals.

Robinson-Bennett began working at Reading Hospital and McGlinn Cancer Institute in 2008 as a gynecologic oncologist and has served as an assistant professor with DUCOM since 2021. She became vice president of the medical staff in August 2022, and she currently participates in the women in medicine and science committee and the medical student admissions committee for Drexel University College of Medicine at Tower Health.

She is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology and serves as a reviewer for the Gynecologic Oncology Journal and has published numerous peer-reviewed articles about her gynecological research. She completed the Felix Rutledge Fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and went on to earn her Master of Medical Science degree and complete the Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship Program at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. She completed her OB/GYN residency at Reading Hospital in 2004.

PENNSYLVANIA LIBRARY ASSOCIATION

The Pennsylvania Library Association recently presented two association members with Certificates of Merit: Roseanne Perkins, associate professor at Kutztown University; and Rebecca Dzikowski, cataloging assistant of the Weinberg Memorial Library at the University of Scranton. Certificates of Merit are awarded to individuals making outstanding contributions during the last five years in Pennsylvania.

Perkins' contributions to the association include continuous service as treasurer of the Lehigh Valley chapter since 2019. She also served on PaLA Teaching, Learning and Technology Round Table Planning Committee from 2018-2020. Most recently, Perkins has assumed the role of co-editor for Pennsylvania Libraries: Research & Practice, an open access, peer-reviewed journal. In addition to her service to our state association, she is an active member of several professional groups including: the American Library Association, the American Association of School Librarians, the Association of Library Service to Children,

Perkins received her Master of Library Science in 1999 and began her library career as a children's librarian. She worked in various public library roles in Massachusetts and Pennsylvania before joining the faculty at Kutztown University 2011. In addition to her MLS, Dr. Perkins also holds an M.Ed. in Art Education and a Ph.D. in teaching,

In 2022, she was promoted to associate Professor and leads the library science program as well as teaches many of the foundational courses. Perkins is an active scholar, presenting at conferences, authoring or co-authoring several peer-reviewed articles as well as a book. Her research focuses on children's literature and makerspaces.

Dzikowski began her library career in public libraries where she performed reference and cataloging services. She moved to Pennsylvania and began her academic library career in 2017 at the Weinberg Memorial Library as a part-time library metadata specialist and then in 2019 transitioned to a full-time position as a cataloging assistant.

MID PENN BANK

Mid Penn Bank has announced that Brian Floyd has joined MPB Insurance and Risk Management as vice president and employee benefits producer. In this role, Floyd will provide insurance clients with customized employee benefits solutions and will be based in Harrisburg at the bank's administrative office.

Floyd brings more than 20 years of experience in insurance benefits consulting and risk management. Most recently, he served as principal at EPIC Insurance Brokers & Consultants. Prior to that, he spent 18 years as vice president with Gunn-Mowery LLC, managing a diverse portfolio of clients and leading initiatives to expand benefits offerings. Earlier in his career, Floyd served as a combat medic in the United States Army.

Floyd earned a bachelor's degree in business administration with dual majors in marketing and management from Millersville University, where he also played baseball. He is licensed as a life and health insurance agent in multiple states, as well as a property and casualty agent in Pennsylvania. He holds several industry certifications, including Group Benefits Associate, Chartered Benefits Consultant and Advanced Chartered Benefits Consultant.

He serves on the board of the Associated Builders and Contractors Keystone Chapter and participates in the Associated Builders and Contractors national membership development committee, the Construction Leadership Network, the Association of Corporate Growth, the Manufacturer's Association of South-Central Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Motor Truck Association and the Mechanicsburg Chamber of Commerce.
