The city's redevelopment commission read a bid during its Wednesday meeting for 1.097 acres of land being sold at 916 Race St., which sits along the Eel River and neighbors Vibrant Event Center.
The Avaris Group offered the city $86,000 for the property, which the Redevelopment Commission is now taking under advisement.
Executive director of the Logansport Cass County Chamber of Commerce Bill Cuppy asked the commission if members could prepare for a meeting soon so construction can begin this year while the weather is still temperate enough to hold ground breaking ceremonies.
According to the bid, Avaris Group plans to work with Cobblestone Hotels, a Wisconsin-based hotel franchise that has more than 160 hotels across 28 states.
A proposal submitted to the Redevelopment Commission showed Avaris Group hopes to construct 54 guest rooms, a wine and beer bar, offer a light fare breakfast service, and hold an indoor pool and fitness room at the hotel.
The project has a $10,358,500 budget, which comes out to $191,824 per room.
If approved, the Logansport location would become the second Cobblestone Hotel in Indiana. The first to reach the Hoosier state was built in Brookville, toward the state's eastern border.
