WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Authorities are investigating a Saturday evening shooting that happened in the West Columbia area.

The Lexington County Sheriff's Department said the incident happened at Riverbend Apartments on Riverbend Drive near North Lucas Street. Details about the shooting are limited, but the sheriff's department said deputies made an arrest a short time after the shooting.

Authorities said the department's major crimes unit has interviewed people who live near the scene, and crime scene investigators have processed the scene and collected possible evidence.

The sheriff's department didn't have additional information to release about the shooting as their investigation continues.
