ST. CHARLES, Mo - As the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program known as SNAP is set to pause millions of Americans are trying to figure out what to do without the assistance.
The City of Saint Charles is lending support to local families who may be affected. A "Fill the Truck" Food Drive takes place on October 31 during the popular Trick or Treat on Main event.
Residents are encouraged to bring canned, boxed, or bagged nonperishable food items to help fill emergency food supplies for local pantries. Donations can be dropped off at the intersections of Main Street and Boone's Lick Road as well as Main Street and Adams Street.
First responders from the Saint Charles Police and Fire Departments will be on site to collect donations and "fill their trucks" with community contributions.
All donations will be distributed to local food pantries throughout Saint Charles. Residents who are unable to attend Trick or Treat on Main can still contribute through online donations here.
St. Charles will also include a Food Drive into the festivities at their annual St. Charles Salutes Veterans Day Celebration on Saturday, November 8 in the Lewis & Clark Boathouse Museum Parking Lot (1050 S Riverside Dr, St Charles, MO 63301).
