Active participation of blenders and packeteers lifted prices of CTC leaf in Coonoor acutions, witnessing an increased sales percentage.
Global Tea Auctioneers said that the offered quantity in leaf grades in sale 42 was 12,79,981 kg, registering a 91 per cent sales, while the dust grades witnessed 78 per cent sales out of the offered quantity of 4,60,782 kg.
Traders said that the prices are likely to improve further because of the quality of the brew available coupled with the enquiries from both export and upcountry buyers. However, the rains in the production areas are posing a concern on the future offerings.
The high-priced teas and better liquoring sorts in CTC leaf were lower by ₹2 to ₹3 and more at times with some withdrawals, occasionally some quality lots sold dearer by ₹2 to ₹3 also. The better medium sorts were barely steady to occasionally dearer by ₹1 to ₹2.
Primary orthodox leaf prices gain
The brokens had fair demand and sold dearer by ₹2 to ₹3 and more in line with quality. The plainer sorts bolders and brokens were also barely steady to dearer by ₹1 to ₹2.
In leaf orthodox, the primary whole leaf grades were had fair demand and sold dearer by ₹3 to ₹4 and more at times in line with quality. The brokens sold steady to dearer by ₹2 to ₹3 and more in line with quality.
The high-priced teas in CTC dust and better liquoring sorts were lower by ₹4 to ₹5 and more at times with some withdrawals. The better medium sorts were steady to dearer by ₹1 to ₹2.
The primary orthodox dust grades were lower by ₹10 to ₹12 and much more at times. The secondaries and finer dusts were easier by ₹2 to ₹3 with few withdrawals.
