Birmingham area elections live updates: Polls now open, follow here for the latest

It's the 2025 municipal election day in Alabama and as of 7 a.m., the polls are now open.

In the Birmingham area that means Magic City voters will decide whether to give Randall Woodfin a third term.

His challengers include state Rep. Juandalynn Givan and Jefferson County Commissioner Lashunda Scales.

Others running for Birmingham mayor are: Kamau "Marlon" Afrika, Marilyn James-Johnson, Jerimy Littlepage, Brian K. Rice, David Russell and Frank Woodson.

All nine Birmingham city council seats are also up for grabs. If a runoff is needed, it will be held on Oct. 7.
