LA CROSSE (WKBT) -- The group managing the Midwest's electrical grid has approved a plan to boost clean energy in Wisconsin.
MISO has approved a long range transmission project that includes 24 lines across 11 states.
It would more than double the amount of clean energy Wisconsin produces right now, according to Clean Wisconsin.
One of those lines would go from south central Wisconsin, cut through southern Vernon County, and then connect northwest to Rochester in Minnesota.
The project is subject to regulatory approval from the states.
The grid project would be the largest regional grid update in American history.
