Kitchen roaches. Open tub of lard on floor. Upstate restaurants with worst November inspections

South Carolina health inspectors found multiple violations at restaurants in the Upstate in November, from roaches crawling in kitchens to an open container of lard left on the floor and workers touching foods without washing their hands. The state each month releases grades and inspection reports for food establishments across Upstate counties.

Here are the restaurants that received some of the lowest ratings in November.

Mom's Home Cooking at 3131 N Main St. in Anderson

Mom's Home Cooking had an inspection on Nov. 7 and got a C grade.

An inspector observed roaches in the kitchen.

An employee was seen failing to wash hands before putting on gloves. An employee was seen using gloves for more than one task. Certain foods were seen not kept at proper holding temperatures.

A box of frozen chicken was seen thawing in the sink at room temperature. An accumulation of food grime and debris was seen on shelving, door handles and equipment.

The restaurant had a required followup inspection on Nov. 21 and got an A grade.

Shortfields at 111 N. Main St. in Greenville

Shortfields had an inspection on Nov. 14 and got a C grade.

An inspector observed an outside walk-in cooler dripping water from inside pipes into a container stored on top of uncovered food.

A food handler was seen touching ready-to-eat chicken with bare hands. Certain foods were seen not kept at proper holding temperatures.

Multiple gaps were see in the back door that leads outside. Food was seen prepared next to a hand sink without a splash guard. Walls and floors were seen heavily soiled with grease and food debris.

The restaurant had a required followup inspection Nov. 22 and got an A grade.

Big Dave's All American BBQ at 1193 W Faris Road in Greenville

Big Dave's All American BBQ had an inspection on Nov. 8 and got a B grade.

An inspector observed the presence of flies in the facility.

Employees were seen changing tasks without washing hands. Certain foods were seen not kept at proper holding temperatures. Frozen meats were seen thawing at room temperature. A buildup of food debris was seen on walls and floors.

The restaurant had a required followup inspection on Nov. 22 and got an A grade.

Bubba Annie's Ribs and Sports at 996 Batesville Road in Greenville

Bubba Annie's had an inspection on Nov. 12 and got a B grade.

An inspector observed dry food buildup on the food slicer and can opener. Also observed was organic buildup in the ice machine.

Certain foods were seen not kept at proper holding temperatures. Several food boxes and containers were seen stored on the floor. Organic buildup was seen on shelves.

The restaurant had a required followup inspection on Nov. 15 and got an A grade.

Corona's Mexican Restaurant at 2002 Augusta St. in Greenville

Corona's had an inspection on Nov. 7 and got a B grade.

An inspector observed an employee eating in the food prep area.

Pink microbial growth was seen in the ice machine. Black microbial growth was seen on the soda gun and its nozzle. Certain foods were seen not kept at proper holding temperatures.

An open container of lard was seen stored on the floor. Open containers of spices were stored under a work counter.

The restaurant had a required followup inspection on Nov. 15 and got an A grade.

Asian Buffet at 364 Market Street in Oconee

Asian Buffet had an inspection on Nov. 4 and got a C grade.

An inspector observed raw animal products stored over ready-to-eat foods.

Dish washing machine was seen unable to clean dishes properly. Certain foods were seen not kept at proper holding temperatures. Personal medical products were seen stored with food items. Food debris buildup was seen on non food contact surfaces.

The restaurant had a required followup inspection on Nov. 14 and got an A grade.
