As the football season is in full swing now, I fondly remember former UTC head football coach Joe Morrison. Morrison coached for the Mocs from 1973 through 1979. His first four seasons were rather lackluster, as the Mocs were winding up their tenure as a member of NCAA Division II. In 1977, the Mocs joined the Southern Conference as a member of NCAA Division I-AA and after putting together a mediocre record of 19-23-2 in his first four years, the Mocs were 25-6-2 and won or tied for the SoCon title all three years.
