Brooklyn Nets guard Dennis Schroder and Germany were on a historic run for their country as they made it to the semifinals of the Olympics for the first time ever. Germany was trying to win a gold medal for the second time in as many years, but they unfortunately fell short of that goal.

Schroder and company lost to Victor Wembanyama and France on Thursday in the 2024 Paris Olympics semifinals 73-69, ending their chance of vying for the gold medal. Even though going for the gold medal is no longer in the cards for Germany, they will be able to compete for the bronze medal on Saturday to face the loser of the United States and Serbia semifinal game.

Schroder had 18 points and four assists, but he also shot 6-of-18 (33.3%) from the field (3-of-11 from three-point land) and also turned the ball over three times. Schroder had been leading the Olympics in assists per game, but he wasn't able to create much for himself or his teammates thanks to the overall length of France's roster.

Orlando Magic forward Franz Wagner had a rough outing as well as he dropped 10 points and eight rebounds, but shot just 4-of-10 (40.0%) from the floor and 2-of-6 (33.3%) from deep. The middle portion of the game is what led to Germany's downfall as they were outscored by France 38-25 in the second and third quarters mostly due to Germany struggling to get anything going on the offensive end of the floor.
