Paving began again on Tuesday, Nov. 25 as work to widen 208 Street in Langley Township's Willoughby area continued.
Asphalt was being laid from 72 Avenue as far north as 76 Avenue on the east side of the widened road. Drivers were being advised of delays during construction, as large dump trucks were hauling in fresh loads of asphalt for paving on a regular basis.
All of 208 Street in Willoughby is being widened, from the Willowbrook Connector which starts at 64 Avenue and 203 Street in the south, up to the 208 Street overpass area in the north.
The Willowbrook Connector and the stretch south of 72 Avenue is now essentially complete, with crews working on the intersection around 72 and the stretch north of there.
Most of the road north of 76 Avenue is already four lanes, although there are a few areas that need final widening, and the overall road surface is patchy from years of construction and being repeatedly dug up for utility work.
Further work was scheduled to take place to the north, between 82 and 83 Avenue from Nov. 17 to Dec. 19. There was expected to be single-lane alternating traffic 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturdays, and drivers were warned to expect delays.
