Animal Crossing Report Reveals Major Feature in Next Game

A new report about the next Animal Crossing game on Nintendo Switch 2 has revealed a major feature it will boast. This week, a new Animal Crossing game was missing from the Nintendo Direct, much to the disappointment of fans who have been waiting since Animal Crossing: New Horizons and 2020 for a new installment. Unfortunately, the wait is set to continue, but in the meantime, there is a new report about the next game.

The new report comes from Nick Baker, a source who is best known for scoops pertaining to Xbox, but who also has PlayStation and Nintendo scoops on occasion. The report is actually from last month, but it's proving very relevant this week because it leaked the existence of the Super Mario Galaxy ports before they were revealed for Nintendo Switch at the Nintendo Direct. In addition to this, the report also made mention of the next Animal Crossing game.

According to Baker, Nintendo is "tinkering" with QR code support via the Nintendo app for the next Animal Crossing game. This would allow players to import and export their designs across saves and presumably into some type of marketplace, though this second part is speculation. Unfortunately, this is the extent of the details.

This wouldn't be that surprising, as the series has utilized QR codes in the past in a variety of ways. For example, Animal Crossing: New Horizons allowed for both importing and exporting, using the likes of the NookLink app and more. This sounds like it would be a more streamlined process, though.

All of that said, remember to take everything here with a grain of salt. While Baker has proven reliable in the past and demonstrated this with the same report having proven accurate intel, it doesn't negate the fact that this is all unofficial information. Further, even if it is accurate, it is subject to change.

So far, Nintendo has not been drawn out to comment on the report. We do not anticipate this changing, but if it does, we will update the story accordingly. In the meantime, feel free to leave a comment letting us know what you think, or join the conversation now in the ComicBook Forum.
