Leeds United have ended the transfer window with 10 new players in exchange for more than £100m. Yet there is a real sense that this might not be enough.

The window started well with four signings acquired before the pre-season tour and three more during the week's training camp in Germany. But things slowed afterwards and first choice targets fell by the wayside.

Leeds supporters have been left bruised by the last gasp rejection of Facundo Buonanotte and the deadline day collapse over a move for Harry Wilson. Fans will be pensive for the coming months as a result. Right now, this is what the strongest XI looks like.

Goalkeeper

Lucas Perri is undoubtedly the number one, having been given that shirt and started the first three Premier League games. Karl Darlow's error against Sheffield Wednesday confirms why he is the number two.

Illan Meslier is third choice and, it seems, has failed to secure a move away. Right now, he is not even part of a matchday travelling squad aged 25.

Defence

Jayden Bogle has got the right-back berth on lockdown and has only cemented that status at the start of the season. He is one of only two goal-scorers so far. Joe Rodon is the dead-cert pick at centre-back with Jaka Bijol eventually to take over Pascal Struijk beside him.

Struijk has had a good start to the home season, barring a loose performance at Arsenal. The weaknesses he has already exposed, though, show why he will eventually be usurped.

At left-back is Gabriel Gudmundsson, who has looked assured and sturdy since his arrival. James Justin is a solid recruitment as a back-up with Sam Byram offering experience as a fourth choice, though he will hardly see much game time. Sebastiaan Bornauw is comfortably fourth-choice centre-back.

Midfield

With Daniel Farke going for a 4-3-3 this season, three midfield spaces are up for grabs. Ethan Ampadu is crucial to Farke's set-up and as captain will retain his leadership and pivot role.

Right now, it seems Anton Stach and Ao Tanaka will be the other two choices, with both able to push forward and drop back. Sean Longstaff adds more stability but the first line up against Everton showed the manager's hand.

Some fans are hesitant about Ilia Gruev being Ampadu's back up given his performances this season but that is his role for now, it seems.

Wings

Noah Okafor comes in as the new left winger with Daniel James on the right. Wilfried Gnonto's versatility means he can play on either side but will only be a back up for now.

Jack Harrison is staying put at Leeds with Farke giving him a second chance to win the fans back. Brenden Aaronson has played on the wing so far, even when the 4-2-3-1 formation was deployed against Sheffield Wednesday.

Centre-forward

When fit, Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be the first choice striker. But then, that's the main crooks of the matter. His injury record suggests Leeds need a bit of luck.

The same applies to Lukas Nmecha, who - after this weekend - seems to be the second choice ahead of Joel Piroe. Last season's Championship top scorer has looked off the boil during his outings so far.

Farke hade it clear he wanted two more attacking singings before the end of the window after Okafor, though. He was given none.

Strongest Leeds XI: Perri; Bogle, Rodon, Bijol, Gudmundsson; Stach, Ampadu, Tanaka; James, Calvert-Lewin, Okafor.
