A 21-year-old man is fighting for his life after losing control of his motorcycle and striking a car in Lisbon Falls, Maine, on Wednesday.
The Lisbon Police Department tells NBC10 Boston affiliate News Center Maine that the Lisbon man was hurt in the crash that occurred around 3:17 p.m. on Route 196 near the intersection of School Street.
A preliminary investigation shows the man was driving a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle east on the roadway, when he slid into the westbound lane and struck a Hyundai Sonata.
The motorcyclist was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with critical injuries and then flown by LifeFlight to Maine Medical Center in Portland, police told News Center Maine. His name has not been released, and there was no immediate update on his condition.
The Sonata driver, a 37-year-old man from Winthrop, was not injured in the crash, police said.
It's unclear what caused the man to lose control of his motorcycle. An investigation is ongoing.
