This Alan Jackson Rendition of "Living on Love" Has Country Fans Mourning a Bygone Era

Earlier this month, Alan Jackson hung up his touring hat for good. The country icon wrapped up his Last Call One More for the Road Tour in Milwaukee on May 16. Since notching his first hit with 1990's "Here in the Real World," he has become a neotraditional country music mainstay. Now 66, the Georgia native is ready to trade in weeks on the road for slow days at home with his grandchildren. During one of his final shows, the "Gone Country" singer reminded longtime listeners what it's all about.

Country music takes on many forms and meanings for different listeners. For Alan Jackson and his ilk, it's all about "life, and love, and drinking, and dying, and crying and Mama, and having a good time."

"All those subjects have always been such a big part of country music songs, and I try to always hit a lot of that," Jackson told the crowd at Orlando's Kia Center back in March. "And we'll try and do that for you tonight.

"But the main thing," he continued, "we just like to have a good time with you. We come from the old days of playing bars and people dancing, and I love to see y'all two stepping and three stepping, whatever you do, up and down these aisles... So I'm going to do a song for you now that I wrote when I was much younger. And back in those days, my wife... we were living these lyrics back then, and I always like to do this song for anybody out there still living on love."

Then Jackson launched into a performance of his chart-topping 1994 hit "Livin' On Love," off his sophomore album Who I Am. A social media user with the handle @mskate311 captured footage of the performance and shared it on TikTok, where it gained nearly 2,000 likes.

In the comments section of @mskate311's video featuring one of Alan Jackson's final performances, everyone seemed to be in agreement: This is country.

"This is real country music the best in the business," one TikTok user wrote.

Others echoed the sentiment. 'THIS IS REAL COUNTRY!"
