Megan Thee Stallion is done with being humble.

The host of the 2024 MTV VMAs, 29, came in hot to the UBS Arena in New York on Sept. 11 decked out in a glamorous strapless black gown featuring a black bodysuit and a sheer skirt with dramatic pleats.

Ahead of the ceremony, the rapper exclusively told PEOPLE that she would have 500 outfit changes. Even if she doesn't come close to that number, she made an unforgettable statement with her initial look, which she accessorized with Schwartz bangles, earrings and rings, plus her hair in a banged bob.

"I just wanted to give hot girl summer, but glam but a little dark beauty. I feel like I'm giving a little dark feminine energy," the star said on the red carpet before she headed in to host the show.

Not only is Megan also performing, but she's up for five nominations, among them, best collaboration for "Wanna Be" with GloRilla and best hip-hop, best visual effects, best direction and best art direction all for "Boa."

On June 30, she opened the 2024 BET Awards (as she emerged from the aforementioned egg) in a gold latex thong bodysuit with a bustier bra and calf-high vinyl boots. And while she didn't attend the Grammys this year back in February, she did show up in full-glam (read: a wet hair look and a silky cutout dress) at a star-studded pre-Grammys gala.

Pulling off multiple ensembles isn't the only thing Megan is excited for when it comes to tonight's event.

"I love New York, I can't wait to be there again and eat all the food, and I'm excited for people to see what I bring to the table while hosting," she told PEOPLE.

The 2024 MTV Video Music Awards will air live on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
