Two years ago the worry was that Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin may not survive his terrifying cardiac arrest event on the field in 2022.
Now, the fan favorite and inspiration to many finds himself not only on the field for the same Bills roster, but in a starting role for the first time since suffering his cardiac event in December two years ago.
Is Hamlin ready for that role, though?
The former Pittsburgh product appeared in just five games last season but started 13 games for the team in 2023 while recording 91 total tackles and 1.5 sacks during this run. He has yet to record an interception in his career while adding four career passes defended overall.
Hamlin has been a serviceable starter for Buffalo over the last few seasons. Can he become the kind of everyday starter that the Bills are hoping for him to develop into?
That's the lone question here for Hamlin.

If there's one coaching staff who has been able to make quality players into more, though, it's certainly Sean McDermott's staff. It's why, despite the injuries suffered at the position, Buffalo isn't necessarily lost when it comes to the safety position.
And Hamlin will play a major role in proving that.
