Merlin Entertainments' bondholders ("Merlin woes heightened by downgrade and debt sale", Report, October 25) would do well to see that the senior citizens on its world-renowned Blackpool Tower Ballroom dance floor are properly served. For all its jive talk about "transformation", it might do better to fill the floor with dancers by letting them know when it's open (the website was down for September), and restore the highly profitable New Year ball, not run since 2019. While the afternoon tea is very popular (nice cake, but no rhumbaba), it defies all comprehension why anyone would risk a long trip given Merlin's threat that the ballroom "may close at short notice due to private events and opening times are subject to change. In such an instance, we reserve the right to cancel your booking." Why would anyone take the cha cha chance?
