Family pet dies in house fire Lawrence County

LAWRENCEBURG, Tenn. (WSMV) - A family lost at least one of their pets in a house fire outside Lawrenceburg on Friday night.

Lawrence County Fire Rescue units responded to a house fire in the New Prospect area just after 8 p.m. on Friday and arrived to find heavy fire coming from the back of a two-story residential structure. The first units on the scene also reported that high winds were driving the flames.

With help from Lawrence County Fire crews, firefighters made an "aggressive attack" on the flames and began looking for potentially trapped persons inside.

An LCFR water tanker had to be brought in because the area lacked an adequate water supply.

The residents were located and were able to make it out of the structure safely, however, it is believed at least one family pet died in the fire, LCFR said.

It took fire crews four hours to completely knock out the flames.
