A CHARITY has received a £9,995 donation to fund inclusive dance sessions.
Cheshire Dance Workshop, which delivers dance classes across Cheshire, was awarded the funding by the Morrisons Foundation to support 130 weekly sessions in Winsford for people with learning disabilities.
Jane McLean, creative director at Cheshire Dance Workshop, said: "Cheshire Dance's mission is to ensure people in our local communities have access to dance and can benefit from its transformative power to live healthier and happier lives.
"We often dance with unexpected people in unexpected places - removing barriers to participation in areas of deprivation and with marginalised communities.
"We believe everyone has the right to be creative; our 'Wanna Dance?' project is about creating one-to-one dancing opportunities with people with profound intellectual and multiple disabilities (PIMD).
"This new project will offer individuals in Winsford with the most complex needs the opportunity to engage in dance experiences that are personal to them and meet their unique needs."
The Morrisons Foundation, established by the supermarket chain in 2015, supports charity projects that improve people's lives.
David Scott, trustee of the Morrisons Foundation, said: "I am delighted that we have been able to fund Cheshire Dance's innovative dance workshops for young people with learning disabilities.
"Cheshire Dance offers access to dance and performance activities that these young people would otherwise not have the opportunity to participate in and I am very proud that the Morrisons Foundation has been able to support their great work."
