A temporary 50 mph speed limit will be imposed on the Raglan bypass.
The Welsh Ministers have made an Order under section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, because of the likelihood of danger to the public.
This is because of the junction layout at Monmouth Road and Groesenon Road, as well as the pedestrian access to Raglan Castle.
The new speed limit will affect parts of the A40 and A449 trunk roads, specifically:
- The circulatory carriageway of Raglan Roundabout - The westbound carriageway of the A40, from its junction with the A449 southbound at Raglan Interchange to Raglan Roundabout - The eastbound carriageway of the A40, from Raglan Roundabout to its junction with the A449 southbound at Raglan Interchange - The A449 northbound exit slip road at Raglan Interchange, from its nosing with the main A40/A449 northbound carriageway to its junction with the A40 westbound carriageway
The order, made under section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, will come into effect on September 26, 2025 at 12.01am.
It is expected to be in place for a maximum of 18 months.
