Longhorns set to welcome QB Malachi Zeigler to campus for unofficial visit

Although the 2026 class holds priority for the recruiters at the moment, the Texas Longhorns have been busy making connections with players in the 2027 class. On Sunday, they will welcome QB Malachi Zeigler to campus for an unofficial visit. The Louisiana native is ranked as one of the top players at his position in his class.

While a visit is encouraging, the Longhorns are not the only program chasing him. This month, he has also received offers from Auburn, Tennessee, Miami, Florida State, and Wisconsin. In April, Zeigler received an offer from USC. With interest in Ziegler's service heating up, his trip to Austin comes at a key time.

Texas has extended just one offer to an uncommitted QB in the class of 2027, four-star Peyton Houston. Like Zeigler, Peyton is also a Louisiana native. Over the last few years, the Longhorns have done well regarding quarterbacks and are looking to continue that trend.

With Ziegler in no rush to make a decision, he will get to see how the Longhorns' recruiting comes together. They have been one of the best teams in the country over the last few years due to their ability to develop players and find the best talent. Although Ziegler is far from a finished product, he has the potential to be a star.

It will be interesting to see how the next few months play out for Ziegler. His list of schools should continue to grow before he chooses his finalists. The focus for the Longhorns will be to continue to build their relationship with Ziegler when he is back on campus in less than a week.

The fact the Longhorns will have already had two unofficial visits before the start of July is a good sign for the program.
