PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - Two members of a burglary ring were charged Thursday that Multnomah County authorities said allegedly targeted more than a hundred businesses in Portland since July.
A grand jury indicted 27-year-old Savannah Carlile and 33-year-old Joshua Patrick Lucero on multiple counts of several charges, including first-degree burglary, which could result in up to 20 years in prison.
One business that was allegedly burglarized by the pair said they are happy about the arrests and look forward to more to come.
"The middle of the night, the phone starts to buzz, and you're like, 'Oh no, not again,'" said Nick Schuurman.
Nick Schuurman is the Operating Partner of Grassa, an Italian Restaurant. He said his business is one of more than a hundred businesses in Portland that Portland Police said were burglarized starting in July of 2024. Schuurman said Grassa had its first break-in in Sept., and since then, four locations have been burglarized multiple times.

"They bring in a Sawzall, they kind of chop open the safe, they find the weakness in safes and kind of exploit that, and they clean out the cash from inside the safe," said Schuurman.
According to court documents, Carlile and Lucero were captured on surveillance video between July and December at Grassa and other locations working, "together to force entry into each business after hours to target and steal safe or safes at each business."
Some of those businesses included Baby Doll Pizza and Old Town Brewing.
"We've been actively trying to help everyone who's been impacted, but I'm sure there's many, many more that hadn't called or didn't think anything was going to be done about it," said Schuurman.
The pair were arrested in Dec. and face several charges, including burglary in the first degree, which could result in up to 20 years in prison.
The District Attorney's office says they did not act alone and are allegedly part of an organized crime ring that could have ten or more people.
"It's funny because I spoke to the grand jury on Thursday, and on Wednesday, one of the people in the ring broke into another one of my locations. So, of course, we're still tepid to celebrate because we want to get the rest of them, but it's great that two of them are done," said Schuurman.
Schuurman said he looks forward to when all in the ring are arrested.
"It is a problem in this city, and we'd all like to have it fixed," said Schuurman.
Both Lucero and Carlile remain in custody, and an investigation into the others that could be involved is underway.
