Hi! I'm looking for personal tales of DIY restoration of matted wall-to-wall carpet, presumably with a carpet rake and a steamer or some other device. I don't expect it to be perfect--I just want it to be good enough to rent to fairly well-to-do students. Considering the high price of putting down a new floor, cost is no object for this question.
