Cam Rising's Return to the Field on Thursday will be a "Special Moment"

The last time we saw Cam Rising on the field for Utah was the Rose Bowl on January 2, 2023. Unfortunately, the Utes quarterback suffered a gruesome knee injury, including a torn ACL, meniscus, MPFL, and MCL.

Rising is finally ready to make his highly anticipated return, and he'll surely receive a standing ovation from the crowd in Rice-Eccles on Thursday night as the Utes open the season against Southern Utah.

On Tuesday, Jim Rome asked Rising about that moment when he retakes the field. "When you run through that tunnel on Thursday night, how many times have you thought about that moment, and then what do you think that's going to be like?"

"It's definitely going to be special. It's going to be something that I remember forever," Rising said. "I've always prided myself on being on the field, and to miss definitely hurt me and affected me emotionally. It's going to be a special moment."

Rome also asked Rising about his motivation to work his way back from the injury, asking him if he ever had a moment where he thought to himself, "it's not worth it."

Rising said he appreciated the "opportunity to kind of learn about [myself] and see how [I] operate in those desperate times."

Make sure to tune into Utah's season opener on Thursday, August 29, at 7:00 PM MT as the Utes host Southern Utah.
