There have been some shoots of Rangers recovery under Danny Rohl - but they were nowhere to be seen on Thursday night as they stumbled to a Europa League draw with Braga.
And the Hotline was in no mood to let them off the hook.
Kevin Thelwell and Patrick Stewart may be out the door but the mess they left behind may take some cleaning up as John Spence, South Ayrshire, said: "Getting shot of Martin, Stewart and Thelwell was one thing. We now need to clear out Aarons, Aasgaard, Antman, Chermiti, Djiga, Fernandez, Meghoma and Rothwell whom they've lumbered us with, and that's just for a start. The likes of Miovski still has something to prove.
"The loanees can be returned but who's going to buy the rest of them at anything even close to what Rangers paid? This is basically now a damage limitation exercise. Sadly the 'legacy' of that trios disastrous spell in charge, however brief, will impact on us for some time to come."
Russell Black, Banchory, said: "Kevin Thelwell has a hell of a lot to answer for! I have to say they played some better football in the first half but in the second half it looked like Rangers were a man down. How can so called professional players be so utterly incompetent? They should have added to the goal instead of that they gift one to the opposition.
"How on earth is Danny Rohl supposed to do anything with that bunch of dunderheeds, can't understand how Thelwell Junior is still there, that beggars belief!"
Phillip Borland said: "So Danny Rohl praises the team saying they have took a step forward. I don;t know what team he is talking about because our team is terrible. We have strikers who can't score, we paid £8million for Chermiti who has scored once for us, he is never a striker in his life.
"We need to get rid of at least eight players from the team and start over again but we are going to be left with the rubbish we have got because no other team will take them. Rangers will win nothing for years and years the full team is garbage."
John Bruce said: "After the latest inept performance which - yet again - sadly showcased the severe limitations of this squad, Rangers fans are in no doubt that every one of this summer's acquisitions are totally out of their depth at Ibrox.I t's likely that some - preferably all - will have to be sold to enable him to bring in the quality players he desperately needs to build a trophy winning team and a return to successful European campaigns. No pressure then, Danny..."
An Jack Armstrong, Bathgate, said: "Struggled and were very lucky against Livingston. Struggled and were very lucky against Braga. If baby Raskin hadn't hit the deck like a sack of tatties it might have been a different story. Yeah, Danny boy, as you say your team is on the rise..."
Jimmy Mac, Glasgow, is fearing the worst as Celtic begin to show some form at last. He wrote in: "It must be said and not pretended otherwise, Celtic appear now to be knitting together with a vein of form going by their win against Feyenoord while at Rangers we have the worse team that I can ever remember seeing.
"Under Thelwell, Stewart and Martin Rangers have become a non entity. A pathetic excuse for a Scottish Premiership football team, not one player the three amigos above brought into Rangers are or ever will be good enough to wear Rangers FC badge and they all know it, every single one of them has to be offloaded asap (easier said than done).
"Any new players coming in must now be quality players and Cavenagh knows he cannot fail Rangers again. He must do due diligence and steer clear of all lower English league clubs as those lower league players are there for a reason. Amateur players at best."
And it wouldn't be a Hotline without some ref chat, would it? Scott Gowers, Edinburgh, said: "I bet Willie Collum thought life would be easier for him as head of referee's but think again Mr Collum. With Nick Walsh officiating in another match involving one of the Old Firm this weekend, my prediction is that major apologies will be made in the direction of Hibs - but may I remind people that these apologies don't change the results?"
