The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Wales, with strong winds expected to bring disruption from Sunday evening into Monday.

The warning is in place from 8pm on Sunday 14 September until 6pm on Monday 15 September. Gusts of 50-60mph are likely around coastal and hilly areas, with exposed locations possibly seeing winds of up to 70-80mph.

Forecasters say the windiest conditions are expected on Monday morning, moving eastwards as the day goes on.

The Met Office warns that coastal routes and communities could be affected by spray and large waves. There is also a chance of delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport, damage to buildings, power cuts, and even the risk of flying debris.

Residents are being urged to prepare ahead of the storm by securing outdoor items such as bins, trampolines, garden furniture and sheds. Drivers are advised to check road conditions before travelling, while those using public transport should check timetables in case of disruption.

People living along the coast are reminded to stay clear of large waves, which can be dangerous even from the shoreline. Walkers are advised to take extra care near cliffs and keep dogs on a lead.

The Met Office also recommends preparing for possible power cuts by having torches, batteries and mobile phone power packs ready.

The warning covers all of Wales, including Cardiff, Swansea, Newport, Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Gwynedd, Anglesey and Pembrokeshire.
