The Philadelphia 76ers are entering an exciting offseason, one in which they will be picking high in the 2025 draft after securing the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NBA draft, following a disappointing season that saw them miss the playoffs.
As the draft nears, the 76ers are in a prime position to improve their roster, either by adding a young star to a core that consists of Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid, and Paul George or possibly leveraging it to acquire another impact player.
In a hypothetical trade proposed by Sports Illustrated's Derek Parker, the 76ers swap their lottery picks with the Brooklyn Nets in a deal that could help both teams.
Philadelphia 76ers receive: Cam Johnson, Pick No.8
Brooklyn Nets receive Pick No. 3, Kelly Oubre, Andre Drummond
In this proposed move, the 76ers add a high-level shooter and scorer in Cam Johnson. Johnson has proven to be a reliable three-point shooter and a capable defender.
He is coming off another productive season, one where he averaged 18.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.4 assists on 47.5% shooting from the field. Despite his play, the Nets missed the postseason, finishing with a 26-56 record.
Johnson missed the final stretch of the regular season in Brooklyn due to a lower back contusion. The 76ers would also still get a high pick moving down with the No. 8 overall pick in the draft.
Meanwhile, the Nets move up the draft board, getting the No.3 overall pick along with bringing in some quality rotational players in Kelly Oubre and Andre Drummond to pair with their young core.
Both teams were among those hoping to hear their names called during lottery night to secure the No. 1 pick; however, they can salvage missing out on Duke Phenom Cooper Flagg by making a trade that would solve both of their issues.
