It was a successful 2024-25 season for the local Channel League girls soccer squads as there was plenty of individual talent showcased.
Many of those talented student-athletes were rewarded as All-Channel League honorees as San Marcos, Dos Pueblos and Santa Barbara High pulled in a total of 16 All-League selections.
The Royals led the local schools with a league record of 8-3-4, good for third place and a spot in the CIF-SS Div. 4 playoffs.
Junior center midfielder Zeina Matni and senior center back Wendy Guarneros led the San Marcos offense and defense, respectively, and were named to the All-Channel League First Team.
Meanwhile, central defensive midfielders Sofia Vazquez and Rio Chesluk did it all for the Royals en route to their All-Channel League Second Team selections.
The defensive duo of junior goalkeeper Harlyn Griffin and sophomore right back Cameron Sparkshad had strong seasons as well and were rewarded as All-League Honorable Mentions.
The Chargers finished their league schedule at 3-4-7, coming in fifth place and falling just short of a spot in the CIF-SS playoffs.
Senior forward Ryan Calkins ended her high school career in style as the team's lone representative on the All-Channel League First Team.
Junior center back and sophomore Maleka Wilcox made their impacts felt throughout the season and were selected to the All-Channel League Second Team.
The underclassmen pairing of sophomore forward Hazel Burgess and freshman center back Charlize Welch had strong seasons and garnered All-League Honorable Mention nods.
The Dons struggled with a youthful squad in Channel League play this season but still had several standout performers who showcased the potential for the program in the coming years.
