JACKSON TWP. ‒ Crews from the Jackson Township and Green fire departments worked together to remove a 32-year-old motorist trapped in a commercial van after a traffic crash early Monday in the 9000 block of Portage Street NW.
Jackson sent rescue and ambulance crews at 5:45 a.m. They found the driver stuck in the van that had hit the back of a flatbed semi-trailer.
The Jackson Township Fire Department said the van, carrying construction and maintenance equipment, was heading east when it hit the flatbed parked along the road.
The rescue crew began the extrication process after requesting additional help from the Green Fire Department. The Jackson Township Fire Department described the removal process as complex in a news release.
The driver was taken to Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital in Canton.
