The Minnesota Wild secured a 5-4 shootout win over the Utah Hockey Club on Tuesday night (Dec. 10).

Former New Jersey Devils forward Marcus Johansson had a big night for the Wild, as he had a goal to go along with two assists.

For his first assist, Johansson poke-checked the puck from Utah defenseman Olli Maatta. This allowed Wild superstar Kirill Kaprizov to get a breakaway, where he beat Utah netminder Karel Vejmelka.

Johansson's goal gave the Wild a 3-2 lead, and it was certainly one he worked hard for. While the puck was loose in front of Vejmelka, Johansson battled before jamming it home.

Johannson also had the primary assist on Marco Rossi's last-minute goal in the third period that forced overtime. The veteran forward set up Rossi beautifully in front, and he took advantage of the opportunity.

With this excellent performance, Johansson now has four goals, 12 points, and a plus-5 rating in 27 games this season with the Wild.

Johansson spent two seasons with the Devils (2017-18 and 2018-19), where he had 17 goals and 41 points in 77 games.
