The Winds Of Winter May Be Delayed More; Geroge R R Martin Reveals TV Project 'Ate' Most Of His Time

Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin has opened up about the infamously delayed book The Winds Of Winter. In a blog post, he revealed that he has been dealing with mounting stress levels and added that the first half of 2024 for him was 'pretty miserable'. He also revealed why he hasn't finished the next book in A Song Of Ice And Fire book series.

Talking about The Winds of Winter Martin revealed that he didn't find much solace in his work after the sudden death of a friend in January 2024. He added, "Writing came hard, and though I did produce some new pages on both The Winds of Winter (yes) and Blood & Fire (the sequel to Fire & Blood, the second part of my Targaryen history), I would have liked to turn out a lot more."

He added that most of his time was spent working on several television projects. Naming only one of them he said, "Some of that was pleasant (Dark Winds and The Hedge Knight), most of it was not. The stress kept mounting, the news went from bad to worse to worst, my mood seemed to swing between fury and despair, and at night I tossed and turned when I should have been sleeping. When I did sleep, well, my dreams were none too pleasant either."

Fans have been waiting to hear about the next book in A Song Of Ice And Fire, and this upset may be another disappointment for them. The Winds Of Winter was expected to release only three years after the last book which came out in 2014. The book is now delayed by a decade, which has fans losing hope for any updates in the series.

Earlier he hinted at what the story in the new book will explore and said, ' it will explain the relationship between dragons and humans and how the Targaryen's is different.'
