Congress to revamp party at district level in J&K

Jammu, Nov 26: The Congress Party has initiated a process to revamp its district organisational structure and induct dedicated workers, aiming to strengthen the party at the grassroots level.

This was announced by former minister and Congress Observer Mohan Markam during a media interaction at the PCC headquarters in Jammu.

"Congress will bring in committed, dedicated, and young leaders to bolster the party's strength," Markam said, adding, "We are in the process of restructuring the district organisations by infusing functional, committed, and youthful leadership."

Highlighting the party's efforts, Markam, who is also a former President of the PCC in Chhattisgarh, mentioned that, in line with the AICC decision, the process is being carried out transparently to include individuals committed to the party's ideology, democracy, and the Constitution of India in district Congress committees.

He revealed that he plans to visit each Assembly constituency in Jammu to meet party cadre and civil society members to further strengthen the grassroots organisation.

Interested individuals can obtain application forms to become part of the District Congress Committee (DCC), Markam stated. The party will prioritise youth, members of marginalised communities, oppressed classes, and women for leadership roles.

The AICC has also decided to enhance the powers of the DCCs to enable them to function more effectively.
